winds of change

as the ever persistent
winds of change
like the funky
wind catcher
in the front yard
spins through our life
from birth to death
dramatically bringing
endings….. disrupting
our normalcy…… altering
our hopes
and dreams……. bringing
us sorrow  ~
remorse  ~
then forgiveness
and most importantly
release
‘cause
the emotional pain
due to loss
which suspends us
~  stands us still
in time……. eventually
threatens
to overwhelm us
yes  ~  to the point
where
we have to choose
between letting it
fully consume us
or just simply
letting it go  ~
so we can survive
and then
blow once again
in the wind
like the wind catcher
to have
a new beginning

peace out

things we do

there are days….. like today
when I remember the flowers
left at your grave
I still can’t believe
you are gone
how hard it is
to breathe
how impossible
to hold back
the tears
‘cause I can also
feel the loss
of all those
who
left
the flowers at your grave
all those who love you

and yet ~
while in the turmoil
of my sorrow
my heart knows
that the person you were
the person
you still are
within my mind
would want me
to go on…. live
live life to the fullest
set the example
to be followed
for all those
who feel the loss of you
by the flowers
left at your grave that day

’cause if we live…… it shall bring
everlasting honor
to the way
you lived
each day of your life

‘cause you
will still be with us
~  yes
within the very
things we do

‘no brag, just fact’

we the people
and I’m talkin’
all of the people
are a hood
of
brothers and sisters
regardless
of
color or belief
that culture
or tradition

we the people
want to survive
go on and be
someone
and do things
that is worth while
for all humanity
being a contributor
to the whole purpose
of
the world
not only ourselves
my brothers
and my sisters

~  it’s in the hands
of
we the people
and that’s ‘no brag
just fact’……..

Words by  ~Keith Alan Hamilton~

we were friends….

we were friends….

at least
I
thought so  ~

until you
abruptly
dismissed me
without notice
as unwanted food
gotten rid of
like garbage
down the sink’s
disposal
and yet…
if you had cared  ~
you’d have noticed
I’m not some
inanimate object
created for
your service
to be cast away
at your whim…..
but……
I’m
a human
with feelings
who could suffer hurt
undergo
the torment
of emotional pain
from such
a thoughtless
seemingly narcissistic
act of abandonment

we were friends….
at least
I
thought so  ~

so I thought
you should know

real as it gets

to the north as you peer out
the draped window
a part of the porch
this small enclosure
built on the side
of the little cape cod
style house
there is a wooded drumlin
where that maple tree
slants just a bit
as it reaches to the sky

for no particular reason
this Sunday morning
such a vista
gets my undivided attention
while drinking
a cup of coffee
my usual cognitive fussiness
suddenly dissipates……

…. now that’s about as real
as it gets
