my choice

as I sit
in seclusion
the pandemic
roars around me
like a hungry lion
I have limited
choices
as far as movement
beyond my walls
of confinement
my condition
due to a health condition
worsens my chances
to survive the virus
if it finds me
when I leave my space
it’s like walking
in space
with a space suit
I have to mask up
and keep my distance
so others
and myself
have less a chance
of getting sick
in spite of my efforts
to be considerate
and kind to others
my choice
I see others
still gathering in groups
not keeping distance
or wearing masks
sadness overcomes me
for my fellow humans
as I sit
in seclusion
the pandemic
roars around me
like a hungry lion

peace out
