one voice ~ the voice of the many

This poem is dedicated to my poetry mentor and tireless peace activist friend David Eberhardt from Baltimore.

one voice laying fallow
seemingly
not by choice
but suspended
in the mist
of the cloudy murmur
the accumulative many
a lone voice
on a holding pattern
with a dwindling
amount of fuel
if not heard
it will eventually
tumble from the sky
to crash and burn
into a pile of ash and smolder
there to patiently await
its resurrection
from a grave of silence   ~
~    ’cause this one voice
was created for a purpose
as an instrument to be strummed
again and again
like the strings
of the harp
until its sweet luring melody
charms the ears
of each listener
who would sooner or later
hear it
within the mist
of the cloudy murmur
and thereafter
the seed of this one voice
would become planted
and able to grow its mission
to bring about change
no longer laying fallow
as before …..
but now the voice of the many

peace out
