where the woman is from ~

as I stand there with her
my muse
in Portsmouth
on the waterfront
my eyes and thoughts
together
look northeast
beyond the building tops
of Norfolk
where my sight
begins to fade
and gives way
to my mind’s eye
which transports
my thoughts
along the ocean’s edge
until coming to rest
in Boston…..
it is there I wish
as I daydream
like the shy young boy
I was
when I
first met her
if I asked her
at this moment
to come stay
with me there
so to care for her
she would joyfully
say yes….
suddenly ~ I hear
my father’s words
yep ~ whispering
from the cloudy
heavens above
(while in the Navy
my father
was stationed in Norfolk
on the USS Randolph)
~ son
wake up
silly boy
the man ends up
where the woman is from ~

Great Bridge Water Tower

referred to…. as some
elevated hydrospheroid
known in the past
as the Great Bridge
Water Tower
all 150 feet
million gallon
tank of it
I’ve seen standing
in its blue
polyurethane glory
with the black stenciled
name of Chesapeake
across its face
from a distance
while driving down
the Great Bridge Bypass
they say its insides
is coated with epoxy
I don’t know
but it sure looks cool
to gaze up at
on a sunny day
with a backdrop
made of clouds
when spending
a carefree day
with someone
you enjoy being with
especially my muse …..

the muse

I often wonder
what’s whirling ~ twirling
around
and around
within your
beautiful mind
much like
the swirly
curly patterns
that form
in the water
of a creek
as it gently flows
beneath and beyond
a little wooden bridge
surrounded
by vegetation
with subtle hues
of color ~
‘cause of all this…..
you’re the muse
for what’s
whirling ~ twirling
around
and around
within my mind
as the aspects
of reality
become
poetic metaphors
to illustrate
what I see and feel
through the lens
of
my
Smartphone
camera
I often wonder
what’s whirling ~ twirling
around
and around
within your
beautiful mind
