I’ve let the extent of my existence
its path along the street
called expectation
become so rooted in everyday life
that when I cast my eyes
upon the row of potted plants
at the lawn’s edge …   I feel
sort of fenced in   ~
without purpose …..

….. compelled I am
to rebelliously jump over
these self-induced
mental barriers
and run uninhibited …..   until I find
my hopes and dreams once more

I have this notion ….   simple as it may seem
to reach beyond the horizon   ~   to the stars
in hope for something more
more  ….   than the mundane
the usual crap
that transpires
day after day
each one   ~   fading into darkness
as if to be sufficient
never to be questioned
well   ~   each morning
before the sun rises
the spark
of the individual
ignites within me ….   I say
~   fuck this
there is more
more than
just looking past the tree line ….   do you see
the milky way   ~   way beyond the moon   ~   I do

the distinction of colors
appear more vivid
as the length of days
become shorter …..
what seemed trivial
has more flagrance  ~  flowering
a multitude of impressions
saturated
with
lasting
significance

nearly every morn …. before
the dawning of light
I sit at my desk
and write  ~  often inspired
by a photo I’ve taken
with the simple click
of a Smartphone camera

….. picture
this
in your mind …..

words …. now
have opportunity
to blend
with an image  ~  offering
this poetically
visual glimpse
an expanded insight
into a higher-dimensional
reality
of me
the artist  ~
spirited by
a desire to create
images with words

I will withstand the onslaught
of harmful words
as any gentleman would
’cause my heart …..  my ideals
hold dear the essence of nobility
not tarnished by the acts driven
by jealousy and insecurity
my honor will overcome adversity
through kindness until those tainted
from the malice
found in their intent
against me
see for themselves
that I am not
what they said I was to them

to them I will become like the daisy
dressed in the purity of white
and the integrity of gold

so glaring it causes you to stop
to pause from your busy travels
along the road of life  …..
…… you ponder for a moment
about what is important
the most precious things
deemed worthy of attention  ~
~  not a waste of time
this potent memory stirred
now clearly revealed …. as a sign

of blue
more light in shade

is but a wisp of smoke

greenish
pollen
which masks ….…
…… a surface
for some
unoriginal
poser
butt sniffer
follower
conformist
who hides
in fear
from the
distinction
found
within
creative …..
….  individuality

to shine as brightly
as me….  no second place
for either of us
and yet  ~
you thought differently
had your own
pie in the sky reality
where only you shined
along the horizon…..
…… and me
my reality
you could have cared less…….

so be it…..
I will walk past and beyond
your splendor  ~
but will never
feel
I could have not walked
hand in hand
together with you
