\nat the historical marker
\nI stand there and ponder
\nthrough visual empathy
\nwhat it may have been like
\nif I was in the shoes
\nof a slave
\n~   putting
\na foot on
\nnot only dry land
\nbut unfamiliar ground \u2026..
\nafter spending much time
\n~   traveling
\nan unfriendly Atlantic
\nto enter the mouth
\nof the Chesapeake Bay
\nthen took up a river
\ncalled James
\nto the Manchester Docks
\nAncarrow’s Landing<\/em>
\nnear Richmond<\/p>\n

~   while deep
\nin contemplative
\nthought
\nmy muse RLF
\ntalks to the locals
\nabout the type of fish
\nthat’s caught at this spot
\non the bank of the river   ~<\/p>\n

instead of going to New Orleans
\nthose that departed the boat here
\ntreated like livestock
\n~    flesh and blood beings<\/em>
\nof THE HUMAN RACE
\njust a different skin color
\nwere taken along the water
\nuntil crossing over
\nto the other side
\nwhere the horrors of being sold
\nat the auction houses in Richmond
\ninhumanly awaited them
\n(300,000 HUMANS they say
\nin Richmond ~ during
\nthis seemingly
\nunfathomable period
\nin American history)<\/p>\n

I ain’t gonna
\nreiterate the historical
\nrecord on the marker
\nabout the Trans-Atlantic
\nSlave Trade to America<\/p>\n

go to the beginning
\nof the Slave Trial
\nand read
\nexperience the moment
\nfor yourself
\nlike me
\nstand there and ponder
\nthrough visual empathy
\nwhat it may have been like
\nif you were in the shoes
\nof a slave
\n~    putting
\na foot on
\nnot only dry land
\nbut unfamiliar ground \u2026..
\nshare your feelings
\nand thoughts with others
\nask them to go there
\nand experience it
\nfor themselves
\nlet the healing
\nthrough the power of empathy
\nfreely flow about the land
\nso such a thing
\nas slave trade
\nnever happens again
\nto beings<\/em> a part of
\nTHE HUMAN RACE
\nof a different skin color<\/p>\n

then afterwards
\nlike my muse RLF
\ntake the time
\nand talk to
\nthe locals
\nabout fishing
\nalong the river bank
\nat the Manchester Docks<\/p>\n
