\nof Cape Breton
\nsung sweetly
\nto me
\nas if
\ngiven an angelic air
\naccording to the wind
\ndriven on its course
\nover hill and dale
\n~ \u00a0 accompanied
\n~ \u00a0 harmoniously
\nfrom the rush of sea
\nbeating
\never so steadily
\nupon the ragged shore
\nsculptured in rocks
\nstenciled
\nwith weathered
\nlines of character
\nwhere water and land
\nare roofed with
\nthe veil of sky
\nnot only home to
\n~ \u00a0 the cloud
\n~ \u00a0 the sun
\n~ \u00a0 the moon
\nbut \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 \u00a0the bald eagle
\nneither one nor two
\nthe many
\nswooping
\nmajestically about
\nall the while below
\nthe moose walks
\nand runs
\nwith beige or gray
\ncovered legs
\nalong the zigzag path
\nof rugged terrain
\nand too
\nunder
\nthe same shadow
\nof the eagle\u2019s wing
\nright off
\nthe best kept secret
\non the Cabot Trail
\nMeat Cove
\n~ \u00a0 the whale
\nbreaching together \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 freely
\nin synchronized swimming
\npurely \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 unequivocally
\nbreathtaking …..<\/p>\n
~ \u00a0 for if I knew
\nthe day and time
\nmy end would come
\nthis is where
\nthis place
\nI would sit
\nupon the ground
\non the hill
\nabove that cove
\nwith love one in arm
\nI would
\nwithout fear
\nface northwest
\nto peer across
\nthe Gulf of St. Lawrence<\/p>\n
and whisper goodbye<\/p>\n
I’d patiently
\nand peacefully
\nwait in silence
\nfor my maker
\naccompanied by
\nthe angel of death<\/p>\n
it would be then
\nwith poise
\nI would ask the creator<\/p>\n
the why
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0for all this living<\/p>\n
