hearing the birds on this early \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 rainy morn
\nvocalizing lively \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 as if an obliging melody
\nfilling the dew-damp air \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 simultaneously
\nwith a variety of tunes according to kind
\nas my stiff knees and not so limber ankles
\nand feet \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 slowly and ever so persistently
\nbecome infused with an energetic rhythm
\npulsating throughout my hefty-laden legs
\na nudge \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 prodding me to walk and then do
\nwhat I describe as a naturally evolving
\nself-adapting style \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 this unspectacular
\nshuffle-jog \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 a shadow of the full all-out
\nrun of early years \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 and yet \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 this morn
\nnow within this sort of melodic prance
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0I more willingly move upon a familiar
\nalthough \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 unforgiving and duty bound
\nblacktop \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 of which \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 through its rough
\nand slanted surface this harden \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 stern road
\nunwittingly does intensify those aching pains
\naged into my body \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 however \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 within this
\nhumbling process of not as once was mobility
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0my mind drifts back to those vocalizing birds
\nscurrying about here and there \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 just doing
\nwhat they need to do \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 in spite of whatever
\nas if illustrating by such an eager activity
\nteeming with the business of the morn
\nsomehow this subtle message is embedded
\npurposely and obediently by the nature gods
\nwho are assigned the noble task to spirit on
\nall routine matters \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 recurrent patterns
\nrevealing \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 without pause a struggle for life
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0I\u2019ve had to experience to more fully know
\nand thusly appreciate the following \u00a0 ~
\nupon awakening from the depths of sleep
\nif I\u2019m so blessed to hear again \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 a liveliness
\nfor life \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 pulsating throughout the air \u00a0 ~
\nland and sea with an energetic rhythm
\nI too \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 heaven forbid \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 shall not linger
\nfor long \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 dilly-dallying in hesitation or remorse
\n\u2018cause \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 I must get up to get going \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 willfully
\nand daily joining the ranks of the all-out commotion
\nthe obliging melody possessing its meaningful
\nreason \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 so I\u2019ll keep moving \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 running
\nor more in tune with reality \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 me by way of my
\nunspectacular shuffle-jog will try to stay alive<\/p>\n
