I’ve been fortunately
\nborn to a body
\npossessing the genetics
\nso kindly blessed
\nwith the unfamiliarity
\nas to the ways of illness
\nwhere sickness
\nis viewed by me
\nas if to be foreign
\nnot at all normal
\nto my everyday routine
\nthen suddenly
\ndisguised as this infection
\nsome virus called bronchitis
\nit makes its arrival
\nlike a distant relative
\nknocking unsuspectingly
\nat the front door
\nwithout extending
\nthe courtesy
\nof calling ahead
\nbut choosing to give
\nno notice
\nallowing me
\nno time at all
\nfor preparation
\nwhere I may
\nphysically and mentally
\nmake the adjustment
\nbegin to grow accustom
\nto this unwelcome
\nact of intrusion
\nthat\u2019s being so
\ninconveniently forced
\nupon the sacred ground
\nof my bodily privacy
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0no wonder
\nthis unwanted visitor
\ndraws out of me
\nmy hidden
\nand extremely unlikable
\ncantankerous disposition
\ndue to not being used to
\nthis state of ill-being
\nwhere continually
\nI\u2019m wheezing ,
\ncoughing
\nand aching all over
\nto the point of
\npissed off exasperation
\ndreading to be sick for
\nanother moment<\/p>\n
