within a decade, my twenties,
\nI became a father three times
\nscared,
\noh yeah,
\nno training manual to prepare me
\nlooking back at those pictures
\nof myself,
\nI looked and felt
\nso young then
\nman,
\nwhat an honor
\nand yet
\na truly incredible responsibility
\nhow did I do it all
\nI really,
\nreally don’t know
\nI just got up and did it each day
\nas I knew how \u00a0 ~
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0somehow,
\nsomewhere,
\nI found the strength
\ndeep down inside me
\nI only had the example
\nof my father,
\nsome things he did
\nI swore,
\nnot to do
\nand boy oh boy
\ndid I make mistakes
\nlater to tell my father I now knew
\nand respected him more
\nfor what he did
\nyou do the best you can,
\nmaking decisions
\nthat others won’t like
\nyour family counts on you
\nwhile taking for granted
\nthe security you give them \u00a0 ~
\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0well you ask me
\nto be a good father
\nI can only shrug my shoulders
\nwhere, where do I begin
\nif you are already on the journey
\nI can only sympathize with you
\nnot judge you
\nand if you are not a father yet,
\nyou’ll fret
\nand worry
\nwhile finding a way, somehow
\nfor being a father
\nis truly an experience worth living
\nlasting in its value
\na whole lifetime
\nso from one father to another
\nthe wisest thing I can tell you is,
\nhow proud I am
\nto truly be among our kind<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most humbling honor I’ve had in life, is to be a father; whether I\u2019m a good one or not is for my children to decide; and yet, I\u2019m forever grateful for this opportunity bestowed as a blessing by the creator of life, \u2018cause I\u2019m giving fatherhood all that my heart and soul can give.\u201d<\/p>\n
