as a story poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>~ \u00a0 \u00a0I come from a line of men<br \/>\nmade from steel,<br \/>\nby placing girders<br \/>\nseemingly,<br \/>\nas if up literally \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nin the land of the clouds<br \/>\nearning them the nickname,<br \/>\n\u201c<em>cowboys of the skies<\/em>\u201d<br \/>\nbetter known as<br \/>\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0iron-workers<br \/>\nwho as a gang of brothers<br \/>\n\u201c<em>The Hamilton\u2019s<\/em>\u201d<br \/>\nwith many relatives<br \/>\nhelped to construct<br \/>\nand connect through iron<br \/>\nthe city of Detroit<br \/>\nlike the Fisher building<br \/>\nand GM building<br \/>\nnow Cadillac Place<br \/>\nand too \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nthe Ford River Rouge plant<br \/>\nin Dearborn<br \/>\nthen on to ~<br \/>\nthe bridge of Zilwaukee<br \/>\nand way,<br \/>\nway up to \u00a0 ~<br \/>\n\u201c<em>The Mighty Mac<\/em>\u201d<br \/>\nleaving a legacy as a family<br \/>\nnot unlike other families<br \/>\nthat partook in erecting<br \/>\nthe main structures<br \/>\nof the Great Lakes state<br \/>\ncalled Michigan \u00a0 ~<\/p>\n<p>~ \u00a0 \u00a0these were Scottish boys<br \/>\nbuilt stout with the genes<br \/>\nof ancestors,<br \/>\nsimilar to Daniel Boone<br \/>\nand Davy Crocket<br \/>\nwho had migrated in 1729<br \/>\nfrom the lowlands of Scotland<br \/>\nwhich inherently gave them<br \/>\nstrength<br \/>\nand courage<br \/>\nalong with the ability<br \/>\nto be<br \/>\nmentally,<br \/>\nstrong willed<br \/>\nthat would be \u00a0 ~<br \/>\ntested,<br \/>\nagain and again<br \/>\nwhile being<br \/>\nbodily cast in the fires<br \/>\nof sweat and intense labor<br \/>\nmaking them feel as if<br \/>\na hard week\u2019s work ended<br \/>\nwith a meal of steak<br \/>\nand potatoes<br \/>\nas the mark of success<br \/>\nin America<br \/>\nfor a job well done \u00a0 ~<\/p>\n<p>~ \u00a0 \u00a0loyalty and trust<br \/>\nwas their code of honor<br \/>\nwith family and workmates<br \/>\nas well as never taking<br \/>\nwhat was not yours<br \/>\ntoo \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nwithout hesitation<br \/>\nlend a kind hand<br \/>\nto your neighbor in need<br \/>\nbut never,<br \/>\nnever<br \/>\ninfringe upon<br \/>\nanother\u2019s freedom<br \/>\nas was expected<br \/>\nin return from others \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nsuch character traits<br \/>\nno matter by some<br \/>\nthought to be good or bad<br \/>\nis what flows<br \/>\nwithin my veins<br \/>\nand what adds flavor<br \/>\nto my words \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nfor these were not only<br \/>\nmen having ideals<br \/>\nbuilt with brawn<br \/>\nthey were thinkers,<br \/>\nmolded around<br \/>\nthe Scot-Irish,<br \/>\nPresbyterian ideology<br \/>\nbrought by their father<br \/>\nas a boy to Michigan<br \/>\nfrom Pennsylvania<br \/>\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0wherein believing<br \/>\nwholeheartedly<br \/>\nin the intelligent process<br \/>\nof learning \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nas to the common man<br \/>\neven if considered,<br \/>\nthe everyday kind of sort<br \/>\n\u201c<em>the people<\/em>,\u201d<br \/>\nshould be firmly educated<br \/>\nin the current thoughts<br \/>\nof the day \u00a0 ~<\/p>\n<p>~ \u00a0 \u00a0nor neither<br \/>\nwere they<br \/>\nall work and no play<br \/>\nfor instance,<br \/>\nmy grandpa could strum<br \/>\na tune by ear of course<br \/>\non any instrument<br \/>\nhaving strings<br \/>\nespecially, the fiddle<br \/>\nalong with the harmonica<br \/>\nin a neck brace<br \/>\ntogether,<br \/>\nat the same time<br \/>\nonly to break<br \/>\ntheir harmony<br \/>\nto amuse \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nby doing a solo<br \/>\nwith the mouth organ<br \/>\nor \u201c<em>Moothie<\/em> \u201c<br \/>\nusing only his nose<br \/>\nall done intentionally<br \/>\nto entice his listeners<br \/>\ninto singing the song,<br \/>\n\u201c<em>Old Shep<\/em>,\u201d<br \/>\nafter he started<br \/>\nto mouth the words,<br \/>\n\u201c<em>When I was a lad<\/em><br \/>\n<em> and old Shep was a pup<\/em>\u201d<br \/>\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0just for the fun it<br \/>\nas he played his fiddle<br \/>\nsimilar to the past tradition<br \/>\nof his brethren<br \/>\nwhose type of music<br \/>\noverflowed<br \/>\nthe mountain-tops<br \/>\nalong the Appalachia<br \/>\nof which became<br \/>\nas some say,<br \/>\nthe forerunner of<br \/>\nyes of today\u2019s,<br \/>\nCountry Music \u00a0 ~<br \/>\n~ \u00a0 \u00a0and yet \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nas a young boy<br \/>\ngrowing up, under<br \/>\nthis kind of influence<br \/>\nby men, such as these<br \/>\nmy favorite times<br \/>\nthe most fun \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nspent with them<br \/>\nwas when they,<br \/>\nwere spinning a tale<br \/>\ntelling a story,<br \/>\nas a Scotsman could<br \/>\nregardless,<br \/>\nif whether<br \/>\ngrim or cheerful<br \/>\nalways,<br \/>\nalways \u00a0 ~<br \/>\never so slightly,<br \/>\nit was embellished<br \/>\njust enough \u00a0 ~<br \/>\ndesigned purposely to peek<br \/>\nthe curiosity of the listener<br \/>\nso to be strung<br \/>\nalong<br \/>\nthe weave<br \/>\nlike<br \/>\nthat of<br \/>\na spider\u2019s web<br \/>\nbeing suspended<br \/>\nin time for awhile<br \/>\nuntil<br \/>\nthe teller<br \/>\nof the tale<br \/>\nfreed you<br \/>\nfrom his verbal grasp<br \/>\nat the climax of that story<br \/>\nbrought to its end<br \/>\nof which in its aftermath<br \/>\ncoming back to your senses<br \/>\nyou then fully realized,<br \/>\nhow it was all<br \/>\nmasterfully orchestrated \u00a0 ~<\/p>\n<p>~ \u00a0 \u00a0it was during these moments<br \/>\nwhere I learned to spin a tale<br \/>\nthen to mold a story into words<br \/>\nweaved together like these \u00a0 ~<br \/>\nwords I tell with a little bullshit<br \/>\n~ \u00a0 spun as a story poem \u00a0 ~<\/p>\n<p>peace out<\/p>\n<p>Words by \u00a0 \u00a0~Keith Alan
